Rapid multiple-front polymerization of fiber-reinforced polymer composites

چکیده
Frontal polymerization (FP) is an out-of-autoclave, self-sustaining cure process that enables rapid and energy-efficient manufacturing of composites compared to conventional processes. Prior FP demonstrations for both polymer composite materials rely on one front achieve full cure. In this work, we investigate the effect multiple fronts time, quality, mechanical performance. Localized void formation, panel thickness increase, thermal spike are measured between two merging observed have a detrimental impact Numerical simulations guide mitigation by modifying layup from thermally insulated boundaries (TIB) conductive (TCB). Panels manufactured with TCB successfully mitigate all adverse phenomena at fronts, leading improved properties. A 5-fold reduction in time ca. 5 min one-front TIB panels 1 two-front achieved.

متن کاملCreep behavior of bagasse fiber reinforced polymer composites.
The creep behavior of bagasse-based composites with virgin and recycled polyvinyl chloride (B/PVC) and high density polyethylene (B/HDPE) as well as a commercial wood and HDPE composite decking material was investigated. The instantaneous deformation and creep rate of all composites at the same loading level increased at higher temperatures. At a constant load level, B/PVC composites had better...

متن کاملThermoreversible and remendable glass–polymer interface for fiber-reinforced composites
Adhesion of the reinforcement to the polymer matrix is essential for load transfer from the polymer matrix to the reinforcement material in fiber-reinforced composites. The reversible Diels–Alder reaction between a furan-functionalized epoxy-amine thermosetting matrix with a maleimide-functionalized glass fiber was used to impart remendability at the polymer–glass interface for potential applic...
